Squid Game: The Challenge is a Netflix reality show which is made after the series became a global hit. The show was broadcast in November 2023.

The director of the series Hwang Dong-hyuk himself has created the reality show as well. The show is filmed at Wharf Studios, London.

The cash prize for the winner is $4.56 million and a total players are 456 players compete.

Once the player is eliminated, $10,000 will be added to the prize money. Thus in the first round, the value of each player is 10 grands until he is in the game.

Unlike the series, the contestants do not die once they are eliminated.

There are a total of 10 challenges in the game. The last one to survive wins the cash prize of $4.56 million.

Mercurio #232 was born in November 1954, in Pennsylvania, USA. His real name is Richard “Rick” Mercurio.

He turned 69 years old in 2023. Likewise, he celebrated his 69th birthday on the show after 1st episode, ‘Red Light, Green Light.’

The 69-year-old graduated from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

He is a Physician by profession in Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. Dani is married with 18 grandkids. In the future, he wishes to have more.

Surprisingly, being a doctor he has huge tattoos on his body. He has inked a “large life-sized” orchid flower tattooed on his leg that contains initials for all of his grandchildren.

He told,

“I have one that encompasses my whole right lower leg up to my thigh. It’s the story of my life. It’s a tribute to my family. Most people think doctors, older doctors, don’t do those kinds of things. I mean, my hobbies are too numerous to count.”

Rick Mercurio #232, Real or Fake player?

Rick made a Gganbu i.e., close friends in the Korean language. He was the only contestant who was enjoying the game without thinking to win. Besides he is passionate about winning the game even if he does not admit it directly.

Being a medical student, he was called ‘Doc’ on the show.

He told,

“Not really planning on winning what with the talent here. But I was always hoping if I could help one person win that, it’s a win for me.”

As he was getting lucky in each game, there were assumptions that he was a fake player. However, he was playing well till episode 3 and later was eliminated after the 3rd episode.
